Spain Travel Part Two: Tarragona to Altea — Beaches, Spa Days & Hillside Magic for Women Over 40 🇪🇸✨

After sharing Part One of my Spain adventure, the biggest question I received was:
“Where did you go next?”

So welcome to Part Two, where the journey continues from coastal Tarragona all the way to the dreamy whitewashed village of Altea. These two destinations delivered everything I love in midlife travel—slower mornings, beautiful landscapes, stylish moments, and restorative rest. If you’re planning a European getaway as a woman over 40, these spots deserve a place on your list.

✨ Why Tarragona + Altea Were the Perfect Next Stops

What I love most about Spain is that each region has its own personality. Tarragona gave us ancient history, rustic charm, and spa days Altea drifted into something softer—calm seas,  hillside paths, and views that almost feel painted.

Together, they created the perfect blend of relaxation, beauty, and experiences that nourish the soul.

🌊 Tarragona: Sun, Sea & Slow Living

Tarragona is one of those underrated coastal cities that instantly slows your heartbeat. With Roman ruins overlooking the water, palm-lined paths, and warm breezes, every day felt like an invitation to breathe deeper.

What We Did in Tarragona:

  • Walked the coastline and watched waves hit the cliffs

  • Strolled the old town streets lined with cafés and warm stone buildings

What I Wore:

Chic neutrals that worked beautifully with the Mediterranean light:

  • Linen trousers

  • Breezy tanks and button-downs

  • Comfortable sneakers

  • Minimal gold jewelry

  • Light layers for cooler evenings

Outfits that were elevated, but comfortable enough to enjoy long days near the water.

✨ Altea: A Dreamy Hillside Village by the Sea

Our next stop was the magical town of Altea, known for its whitewashed walls, cobblestone hills, bright blue domed church, and the softest Mediterranean sunsets.

This part of the trip felt peaceful, feminine, and nourishing — everything midlife travel should be.

What We Did in Altea:

✔ Enjoyed the beach:
Quiet, calming, and perfect for women who prefer a relaxing, less crowded shore.

✔ Walked the famous hillside streets:
A workout disguised as a wander. The alleys climb up and down, offering gorgeous views from every turn.

✔ Cafés, boutiques & coastal meals:
Fresh food, local charm, and slow living at its best.

What I Wore:

Altea called for flowy, breathable pieces that felt elegant yet effortless:

  • Neutral tanks + light cardigans

  • Low sandals or sneaker for the hills

  • Sunglasses + minimak earrings for evenings

Everything designed to stay comfortable while still feeling polished on camera and in photos.

🌿 Why These Destinations Work So Well for Women Over 40

Midlife travel should feel intentional — not rushed. Tarragona and Altea both offer:

• Walkable beauty (you don’t need to overexert)
• Calm beaches
• Great food without feeling heavy
• Relaxation + wellness
• Style-friendly weather
• Scenic views that don’t require strenuous hiking

It’s the perfect blend of discovery, comfort, and elegance — ideal for women looking to travel beautifully and meaningfully.

🍽️ Food Highlights in Tarragona & Altea

A few standouts you must try:

  • Local seafood

  • Café con leche on a terrace

  • Fresh pastries

  • Sangria or tinto de verano by the water (I don’t drink but these looked delish!)

  • Tapas at small, locals-only spots

Everything tastes better with a Mediterranean view.

✨ Final Thoughts on Part Two

This portion of the trip felt like a deep breath — sun-warmed days, refreshing spa time, beautiful hills, and that unmistakable Spanish charm. Tarragona grounded the beginning of our coastal journey, while Altea wrapped it in softness and serenity.

Whether you’re planning your own Spanish escape or simply love following these midlife travel moments, I hope this inspires you to choose destinations that feel both calming and beautifully alive.
